The Federation’s 2012 conference was held on July 12, in
which FWD chief executive James Bielby sought suppliers’ help for the
investment in wholesaling. He said that wholesalers have one million customers
all over the UK now and that
they were an essential part of the UK economy that not only creates
entrepreneurship in the country to boost its economy but also generates wealth
and has a complete network to support the business activities of the country.
He encouraged the suppliers to maintain a good business relationship with the
wholesalers and utilize their strong network throughout the country and thus
enjoy the mutual benefits. He opined that the wholesalers had a proper network
and this made them disciplined, engaged and dynamic and could be of great help
for the supply business.
He reiterated the resolve that the FWD was going to audit
all the data to negate this belief that wholesalers are nothing but
“box-humpers”. He said that the organization will look into everything and
after proper scrutiny will differentiate all the good and bad so that the
regular notion could be undone.
He also said in his speech that he could predict about the
situation of wholesale after a decade and believed that there will not be
pre-pasted tags on the products and the wholesalers will be able to get good
results out of their investment taking a look at the market as and when
required. He also forecasted much more use of e-business and also vowed for better
communication between the wholesalers and the suppliers.
