Books Are the Best Friends but Good Ones Only

“The best friend that a man may get is a good book.” That is what we have been hearing since our childhood yet we are moving away from the books and all the literature along with it. We are no longer interested in going to theaters for watching the Shakespearean classics as we don’t even find some time to do that. The reason might have been that the work timings are so tough and the life has gone too fast that the only books that people like these days are the comics and children like the cartoon books that normally have Spiderman and Batman on their covers.
While the serious book-reading has increased in terms of number of books sold, it has never been in accordance with the rising education standards and literacy rates throughout the world. This has led to serious problems and because there is not much demand for good literature in the world the innocent minds are trapped by exploitative literature which can be religious, cultural, economic or even sexual. The need of the hour is to invoke the spirit of book-reading among the readers again and try and promote the good books only. The governments can do it in their respective countries while the corporations can also promote them.
Corporations can create goodwill by promoting good serious stuff and can arrange book-fairs and exhibitions for this purpose. This certainly does not mean any censor but some promotion for the good material only. The exhibitions are set up throughout the country time and again and they definitely help the booksellers because there is good bit of supply books available for the readers. The books wholesalers can also try and convince the retailers and the publishers and other stakeholders to set up more and more exhibitions and book-fairs so that the general interest of book-reading can be revamped among the masses and books of good caliber and having good material with them can be promoted and sold as well.
